Notes: Looked at the demo of QTP today. Realized that I had used it before at a past job when I was assigned to review automated tools for possibly use. I find it to be very much like the other automation tools I have used. I don't understand why recruiters are making a big deal out of how much experience one has with QTP vs. any other (Silk, WinRunner, etc). They all seem to be based off the same features, and bastardized scripting languages.
Not adding it to the resume as a skill yet, but I defiantly feel that if I am to work with it for a few weeks I could easily master it.

*Update: I just heard back on the resume I sent out this morning. The recruiter is refusing to submit me for the job. Why? QTP not on my resume!
Forget that I have over 10 years in the field, and loads of automation experience with tools that are very similar to QTP.
I'm not about to lie on my resume, but crap like this pushes me close to doing so.

Today's listing sucked. All the ones that appeared to be new, where actually just ones I had previously found on other boards or sites. It's still to early in the hunt to get discouraged.
I am noticing that I need to start generating a list of requirements requested on the listing I have found. Then I need to start building up those skills. I have let myself become far to rusty with programming languages.

What's the point?

True! The web does not need one more blog. However, I'm starting this one to record my current job search for a position in Software Quality Assurance in the Portland, OR area. Occasionally, I'll also post my thoughts on the software industry and the role of Q.A. in the development process.
